CTBTO Head Tibor Tóth lays a wreath at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony.

CTBTO Executive Secretary Tibor Tóth is visiting Japan from 5-11 August. Earlier today, on 6 August, he laid a wreath at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial commemorating the 140 thousand men, women and children who lost their lives in the 6 August 1945 atomic bombing of the city and its aftermath.  On 9 August, he will honor the victims of Nagasaki.

During his visit, he will also meet with survivors of the atomic bombings, the Hibakushas, visit the Peace museums, and greet the Mayors in both cities. He will deliver lectures at Hiroshima and Nagasaki universities, and meet with elementary school children and the media.

Lanterns float for miles along the Motoyasu River as Hiroshima remembers those who lost their lives in the atomic bombing.
