On Friday, 11 January 2013 the Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Tibor Tóth, and Austria’s Minister of Social Affairs, Rudolf Hundstorfer, signed a Social Security Agreement between the CTBTO and the Republic of Austria.

Under the agreement, which will enter into force later in the year after approval by the Austrian parliament, CTBTO staff will be given the option to join the four branches of the Austrian social security system, covering pension, health, accident as well as unemployment insurance.

At the signing ceremony, Tóth thanked Minister Hundstorfer and his ministry’s staff: “This agreement adds another dimension to the long-standing and multi-facetted Austrian support for this organization”, Tóth said, adding that many Austrian nationals worked at the CTBTO.
