Event location for the 1 January 2014 meteor burst

Asteroid_Atlantic_map_20140102

Our event location for 1 January 2014 meteor blast over the Atlantic Ocean, using infrasound data from CTBTO stations in Bermuda, Bolivia & Brazil. Our analysis shows that two different phases seem to have been observed by the Bermuda station, which could be an indication that the asteroid broke up in the atmosphere. The signal processing results are very clear, even if the signals are rather weak due to the distances of propagations (3000 to 5000 km) at these latitudes (close to the Equator) or to the noisy surrounding of the station on Bermuda Island.
