“N. Ogden legislator lobbies for nuclear test ban treaty”
“NORTH OGDEN – A Weber County lawmaker is in Washington Wednesday to lobby federal officials for ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty on nuclear weapons.
Rep. Ryan Wilcox, R-North Ogden, said it is far more important to get in place than anything he may accomplish this session in Utah.
Wilcox said Utahns have already paid the price of nuclear arms testing, with downwinders and a high occurrence of cancer among those exposed to the fallout from those tests.
“This is not just a Washington thing. It affects everyone. We’re the ones that have paid the price for the testing. We’ve lost nearly a half million Utahns to cancer,” Wilcox said.”
