Major nuclear inspection under way in Jordan

The Integrated Field Exercise 2014 (IFE14) is the largest on-site inspection exercise that is conducted by the CTBTO to date. IFE14 teams are testing their ability to confirm whether a nuclear explosion has taken place. The hope of conducting this largest inspection exercise is to raise the Treaty’s profile and encourage the eight remaining Annex II countries to ratify it.

We’ve proven by the three North Korea’s nuclear tests that we can effectively detected any nuclear explosions, and now we completing the verification regime by this important integrated field exercise in Jordan that proves that we’re ready to detect any type of nuclear test explosion in the process of developing nuclear weapon -Lassina Zerbo, CTBTO Executive Secretary
